A group of students in Ho Chi Minh City have released a special book to present the city's most popular buildings in 3D format.
The pop-up book, ‘Sai Gon Pho’ (The Town of Saigon), spotlights landmarks including Ben Thanh Market, Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica, the Municipal Theater, and Nha Rong Harbor.
The municipal Department of Tourism praised the work, touting the book as a highly applicable work able to reflect the famous cultural highlights of the country’s southern hub.
Written in English and Vietnamese, it is among eight typical souvenirs of Ho Chi Minh City to introduce local culture to international friends.
The student group included Bich Thao, Thanh Truc, Tuan Phat, and Hoai Vu from the faculty of industrial arts at Van Lang University.
The creative product draws inspiration from traditional children’s pop-up book, using different methods to cut, stick, and fold paper to create 3D images that jump out at the reader as the pages are turned.
Each page has its own folding technique, allowing readers to experience a wide range of vivid, professional designs throughout the book.
The bilingual book is considered a gift that the four students, who come from different regions in Vietnam, use to express their gratitude to the city after four years of calling it home.
