According to the results of confidence ballots on 16 key positions of the Ho Chi Minh City cabinet announced on Thursday, chairwoman of the city People's Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam had the highest number of “high confidence” votes (78), representing 86.67 percent of 90 deputies.
In the opposite, Thai Van Re, director of the Department of Planning and Investment, got the highest numbers of “low confidence” ballots (18), accounting for 20 percent.
At the ongoing 10th session of the HCMC People’s Council, 90 deputies were allowed to express "high confidence," "confidence" or "low confidence" on the 16 officials who had been elected by the council.
Of these officials, six are holding different positions under the People’s Council, including Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, chairwoman of the Council; Truong Thi Anh, Tam’s deputy; Nguyen Thanh Chin, a standing member of the council; Huynh Cong Hung, head of the council’s Cultural and Social Committee; Pham Van Dong, head of the Economic and Budgetary Committee; and Pham Van Ba, head of the Legislation Committee. The other 10 key officials belong to the People’s Committee, including chairman of the Committee Le Hoang Quan and his four deputies; Dao Thi Huong Lan, director of the Department of Finance; Thai Van Re, director of the Department of Planning and Investment; Major General Nguyen Chi Thanh, director of the Police Department, and two others.
