Briefs of some of the leading news stories published Friday (November 29) in Tuoi Tre Newspaper:

Politics:

- On November 28, the National Assembly passed the amendments to the 1992 Constitution with voting from 486/488 National Assembly deputies. A resolution on executing the constitution was also passed on the day with 491/491 deputies’ votes.

Society:

- Residents in the central coastal city of Nha Trang have recently expressed an angry backlash after being affected by the air pollution caused by local Khatoco tobacco factory. Although the factory was asked by Khanh Hoa Province’s environmental authorities to control the smell from the factory’s operation three months ago, local people have still suffered the smelly air. The company also admitted that it has not dealt with the pollution well.

- On November, the National Assembly had discussion on the Law of Entry, Exit and Residence of Foreigners In Vietnam. Almost opinions expressed that the law should facilitate chances for foreigners to reside, work and study in Vietnam.

- The HCMC Department of Finance has recently issued documents requiring transportation enterprises to not increase their price to stabilize prices for the upcoming Lunar New year. The extra charges for holiday transportation are also required not to exceed 60% of the basic rate.

- On November 28, Dak Lak Center for Preventive Medicine informed that 69 kids had post-vaccination responses after being injected with Quinvaxem vaccine. The kids mainly had mild fever except one has more serious response. According to the center, these are just normal reaction after injection and do not influence the children’s health.

Business:

- On November 28, a number of supermarkets of Metro VN, including Metro Hiep Phu, Metro An Phu and Metro Binh Phu are fined for selling contaminated meat. The environmental crime prevention police agency PC49 and local police detected the above places’ violation in selling contaminated meat after examination in August and September.

Lifestyle:

- “Dem Ket Noi Yeu Thuong” (The night to link love), the charity show will be held by Tuoi tre Newspaper for the second time at Sen Hong Stage, 23/9 Park on District 1 on November 29. The event is organized to raise fund for people in central Vietnam’s flooded regions and victims of the Haiyan storm in the Philippines. Miss Philippines 1996 Daisy Reyes will also join the event and perform Vietnamese folk song “Cay Truc Xinh” (The beautiful bamboo). Early this month, the show donated more than VND8 billion to children in flooded areas.

-  Karishma, a young Indian girl suffering from Down syndrome, will display and sell 31 of her paintings at Sheraton Hotel in HCMC on November 29. The event, is held with Karishma’s hope to help disable children in Quang Nam. In 2011, Karishma also had an exhibition  featuring works created with her talent and huge love of paintings.

- Model Phan Nhu Thao will present Vietnam at the reality show 2013 Asia’s Next Top Model which will be broadcast on Star World since January 8, 2014.
