Society -- A Vinasun taxi driver was found dead for an unknown cause in his cab at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Binh District at 8:00 am on Friday. Police are investigating the fatality. -- Police from the Ministry of Public Security on Friday arrested Phan Kien Trung, 30, director of Hanoi-based 24 Gold Due Bac Investment Consulting Co. Ltd. for appropriating property through swindling. Trung has been found involved in the swindling case earlier uncovered at Hanoi-based Khai Thai Investment Consulting Company Limited whose Taiwanese CEO Hsu Minh Jung was captured on October 2. -- Six labor exporting companies that send Vietnamese workers to Taiwan for work have been fined VND20 million (US$942) each for violating regulations on labor export, according to the Department of Overseas Labor Management under the Ministry of Labor, Ward Invalids, and Social Affairs.   -- Police in the southern province of Binh Phuoc captured Nguyen Van Tai, 23, from the southern province of Dong Nai, on Thursday for stealing a taxicab from Saigon Taxi Company. During a trip in the cab from the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho to Binh Phuoc, Tai stole the cab when its driver got out of the vehicle to buy some drinks.   Business -- Deputy Minister of Transport Pham Quy Tieu told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Friday that the information released previously that “Japan has pledged to provide $2 billion for the Long Thanh International Airport project [in southern Dong Nai Province]” is incorrect. The Japanese government has been committed to financing the project but has yet to reveal the specific funding amount, he said.   -- The Ministry of Finance has proposed that the government increase the proportion of investment by foreign investors in the Vietnamese stock exchange, Deputy Minister of Finance Truong Chi Trung said at his meeting with David Marchick, the managing director of the U.S.’s Carlyle Group on Friday.Lifestyle -- An exhibition of about 150 works as candidates for the graphic design contest “Saigon Makeover” – which has been launched by Global Shapers Ho Chi Minh City Hub for designers and artists in the hope of beautifying Ho Chi Minh City – will take place at 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 19, at Saigon Ranger, 5/7 Nguyen Bieu Street, District 1.
