Last weekend, more than 300 young people flocked to Hanoi’s Time City square to dance in the “Ngày hội flashmob chào Xuân Giáp Ngọ 2014” (Flashmob to welcome Lunar New Year 2014).

The attendees, all wearing Vietnamese traditional “ao dai” and “khan dong” accessories performed simple but energetic dance moves to the song “Ngày Tết quê em” (Tet in my Hometown). Held by the Hanoi Association for Ecology Conservation and Sustainable Development and local dance group Handi Crew, the event aimed to give people the chance to forget their worries from the past year and dance to welcome the coming new year.

“This is a gift that we want to give to our families and friends to wish everyone a happy and healthy year no matter where they are in Vietnam,” Tran Tu Long, head of the Handi Crew, expressed.

“The dance moves are beautiful and meaningful. They help us to come closer together for a joyful new year,” Nguyen Thi Trang, a student from Polytechnic University, also a participant of the event, added.
