Second deadly hole forms on street

Just five days after the first dangerous hole was found on Truong Sa Street in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, another deadly deep hole has appeared there, endangering people driving through the area. Located near a manhole, the new hole is 2.4 meters deep and 40 cm in diameter. More dangerously, it created an underground vault with a width of about 2 meters. After being informed of the dangerous “trap” on the street, traffic inspectors of the city Transport Department came to the scene to examine the hole and coordinated with relevant agencies to handle the problem. An initial investigation showed that a connecting joint between underground water drainage sewers was broken, causing water to overflow from the sewer and undermine the underground soil structure, leading to subsidence that created the hole. Concerned agencies had to use barriers to block the area from traffic for safety reasons. Five days earlier, on October 18, another deadly hole suddenly appeared on the same street, near the intersection with Tran Quang Dieu Street, causing a prolonged traffic jam in the area. The hole is 2 meters deep and about 40 cm in diameter. It also created an underground vault with a width of 2 meters.
