Vietnam provides WEF with experience in agricultural development, food security

A Vietnamese delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, shared the country’s experience in sustainable agricultural development and protection of food security at a dialogue on Global Agenda for Food Security, a part of the recent 2015 World Economic Forum (WEF 2015) in Switzerland.

During the two-day WEF that closed last Friday, the delegation talked about experience in implementing the “New Vision for Agriculture” initiative through public-private partnership to call for businesses’ investment in agriculture, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

During speeches delivered at the five other sessions of the WEF, including Global Geopolitical Prospects 2015” and “ASEAN Agenda”, Deputy PM Minh, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the recovery of Vietnam’s economy in recent years and the nation’s international economic integration in the coming time.

He reiterated the Vietnam’s commitment to improving the business climate and emphasized the importance of investment opportunities when negotiations for Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) are finalized.

Talking with the Vietnamese delegation, the leaders of many international groups expressed their optimism about the Vietnamese economy and said they wish to step up cooperation with the Southeast Asia country. At the event, some groups announced their plans to strengthen  investment in Vietnam.
