-- A four-year-old girl in the south-central Vietnamese province of Binh Dinh lost her life after falling off the eighth floor of a building on Sunday evening.
-- Police in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City affirmed on Sunday that 11 young men had been caught red handed while gathering for an illegal street race at around 4:30 am the same day.
-- Two Laotian men have been detained for smuggling 69 packs of heroin into Vietnam, according to the border guards in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa. The suspects claimed they were transporting the drugs for a Vietnamese man who promised to pay them VND40 million (US$1,766).
-- Nearly 600 drug addicts at a rehabilitation center in the southern province of Dong Nai broke out of the facility at around 11:00 pm on Sunday, creating chaos as they started to attack vehicles traveling on the National Highway 1.
-- According to a government’s report, there has been a decrease in the number of traffic accidents and casualties in the first nine months of 2016 compared to the previous year.
-- Three people were shot dead and 18 others injured following a land dispute between local residents and businesses in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong on Sunday morning.
-- A 50-year-old man in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa went missing while his wife was found dead after they had been washed away by floodwater on Saturday.

-- According to the General Department of Taxation, VND598 trillion ($26.4 billion) has been added to the state budget in the first nine months of this year, accounting for 74 percent of this year’s estimates.
-- Authorities and experts are concerned that Ho Chi Minh City would lack the financial capacity to develop its infrastructure as about VND80 trillion ($3.5 billion) is expected to be cut from the city budget.
