-- The mission to search for missing fighter jet Su30-MK2 and Vietnamese coast guard aircraft CASA-212 8983, carried out by hundreds of military personnel and a number of searching equipment sets, failed to yield any positive results at the end of Sunday.

-- Colonel Tran Quang Khai, the pilot who died as his Russian-made fighter jet went down during an exercise off north-central Vietnam on Tuesday, was promoted to senior colonel, with his memorial service taking place today, June 20, in his hometown of Vinh in north-central Vietnam.

-- A 58-year-old woman in Ho Chi Minh City is being held for kidnapping a three-year-old girl she was hired to babysit and demanded VND40 million (US$,1786) in ransom from the family, police said on Sunday.

-- Frequent and heavy rains are forecast to hit southern Vietnam, spanning from Binh Thuan Province in the south-central region to the southernmost province of Ca Mau.

-- Kido Corp., once known as Vietnam’s snack giant, is set to completely withdraw from the confectionery sector by finding buyers for the remaining 20 percent stake in its snack business, after selling 80 percent of the share to Mondelez International Inc. in November 2014.

-- The bus operator of Ho Chi Minh City will extend the operation time of several routes to up to 10:00 pm from the current 8:00 pm, to provide support for those who need to travel late, such as students or night-shift workers.
