The “revival” of a once “dead” canal in Ho Chi Minh City, which will be complete early next month, has nurtured hopes among residents for a brighter future and a neater, environmentally-friendly façade in the area.
The Tan Hoa-Lo Gom Canal, which runs through District 6, District 11, Tan Phu District, and Tan Binh District in the city, was once a “dead” canal, which was gravely tainted and plagued with murky water, rampant garbage, and a foul odor.
The canal, which measures 7.5 kilometers in length, is part of the city’s waterway and sewage grid.
