The Department of Post under the Ministry of Information and Communications said on Wednesday it officially objects to the China Post’s issuance of stamps that violate Vietnam’s sovereignty.

>> Chinese stamps violate Vietnam’s sovereignty >>Chinese guidebooks violate Vietnam’s sovereignty>> VN protests China’s activities in so-called Sansha city The violation was found in May when the Chinese organization, on China’s Tourism Day, May 19, issued a set of six stamps named “Beautiful China” featuring six tourist attractions, the department said. Of these tourist sites, five are in China, while the other belongs to Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty. This site is a group of seven small islands that is a part of Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago.

The island group is shown in one of the samples of the stamps, which is named “Tam Sa thất liên dữ” (“A group of seven small islands in Sansha”). In addition, China Post also issued a FDC (First Day Cover) and a postcard, both of which show an image of the group of islands. The Department of Post affirmed that China Post’s issuance of such violating stamps was not in compliance with relevant regulation of the Universal Postal Union. The Department demands that the China Post destroy all samples of stamps, the FDC and postcards that violate Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa and not repeat similar acts in the future.

As previously reported, Vietnam has been protesting China’s establishment of the so-called Sansha city, which illegally includes Hoang Sa and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos, in the East Sea, which belong to Vietnam’s sovereignty.
