Local film producer and actor Phuoc Sang has recently been accused of appropriating VND3billion (US$143,000) and a car of a man named Chung Minh.

On October 5, Chung Minh told Tuoi Tre newspaper that he has submitted an accusation letter to Binh An Ward Police in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2 where Phuoc Sang resides, saying Sang has borrowed VND2.4billion and $25,000 as well as a 4-seat Mercedes S350 car with number plate 51A-127.02 and hasn’t returned yet.

According to the accuser, Sang has replied that he left the car at a pawnshop when Minh asked Sang to return. However, Minh once found local singer Le Hieu using it.

“After lending him VND2billion, Sang showed me a certificate proving that a bank agreeing to lend him VND79billion (US$3.8million). I thought that he would return my money after receiving money from the bank, but I couldn’t imagine things could happen like this.” said Minh, in explaining why he kept lending Sang money.

Minh also added that he doesn't have any document proving that Sang has borrowed his money, then gave Tuoi Tre an audio file and informed that he secretly recorded a conversation between him and Sang since he’s afraid that Sang wouldn’t return the money.

A voice thought to be Phuoc Sang's was heard in the audio tape admitting that he owed Chung Minh VND3billion (US$143,000) and a car. “I do not defraud you, I just borrow your money. I’m grateful for your help and have duty to pay it back to you,” the man said.

Also in yesterday afternoon, Minh also submitted the case to the HCMC Criminal Police Department for investigation. “If I can’t take my money back, I want to get the car. They are my possessions. I can’t stand losing both my money and the car,” Minh stated.

For his part, Phuoc Sang told Thanh Nien newspaper that he’s busy filming a movie in Phan Thiet City and really shocked knowing the news.

“I’m too busy right now. I will have meeting with local press after I return to Saigon in a few more days,” Sang informed. “Chung Minh is a close friend of mine. I’m truly stunned and upset. I have no comment on the accusation that Le Hieu is using the car. Let Hieu talk about it,” he added.

His wife, actress Kim Thu, said she couldn’t give any comment on the incident since her business is independent from Sang.
