Receiving UK Minister without Portfolio Grant Shapps in Hanoi on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said Vietnam would make more efforts to further promote the ties between the two countries.
Deputy PM Dam also asked two sides to expand cooperation in various fields, including economics, trade and investment.
Dam also said he hoped that the UK will give more support to Vietnam’s negotiations of a free trade agreement with the EU and continue to provide official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam.
The official also suggested that the UK make more investments in the education sector in Vietnam.
In reply, Grant Shapps said the UK will try its best to implement reached agreements between the two countries. He also said UK businesses are very interested in investment cooperation in Vietnam.
The guest expressed his hope that the Vietnamese Government will create favorable conditions for UK businesses to invest in architecture, construction, educational services and machinery manufacturing in Vietnam.
He also said that the UK is willing to share its experience with Vietnam so the country can successfully organize the 2019 Asian Games (ASIAD).
