New York Steakhouse tagline is "…not your daddy's steakhouse." Well, if your daddy likes a female-friendly ambiance, he’ll love it. And Mom will enjoy this high-energy, sexy steakhouse, too, which also has branch in Phnom Penh.

The entranceway seems to be designed to house a velvet rope and sexy hostess, leads to the main dining room features black and red tones, curvy leather banquettes, and theatrical pictures of movies star.

The meat-centric menu offers grilled steaks in three sizes, but even a "small" Skirt steak weighs in at 160 gram (The large bone-in version is 800 grams.) Lighter eaters can nibble on a 125gr Petit Fillet, while our "medium" 300 grams rib eye hit the carnivorous spot.

A great steak is one of the best things in the world, but you’re far more likely to get it at New York Steakhouse that has to stand on the quality of its food, rather than at a generic feeding trough where the whole culinary program consists of a guy throwing meat on a grill for nine minutes.

NYSH is not just another beefy meat market like others, NYSH does not bathe the meat in melted butter, which is good, but as much of a deceit as a padded bra; NYSH does not buy steaks that have been jabbed with thousands of tiny needles to make them soft; NYSH does not use MSG or other tenderizers; NYSH does not call a steak “dry-aged” that has been in refrigerator for three days (NYSH’s beef is aged at least 2 weeks in a real aging-walking chiller room.)

Each steak comes with 3 sauces, 4 mustard and 6 different sea salt. There are plenty of options among the appetizers, salads and entrées; a must is the perfectly cooked sea scallops wrapped with bacon. Try the Brussels sprouts and Parmesan truffle fries as sides, and end with chocolate mousse if you saved room.

 The wine list, which explains each varietal, emphasizes California wines, and there are about 8 wines available by the glass.
