Workers, florists and artisans are working against the clock to complete the Nguyen Hue Flower Street, a flagship celebration Ho Chi Minh City administration has been carrying out annually in the last dozen years to observe Vietnam’s Lunar New Year (Tet).

Decorations have been set up and tons of flowers of all kinds have been brought and installed across the iconic street, covering the whole 720m length of Nguyen Hue Street in the city’s downtown area.

The last construction and installation units are being done to ready the Flower Street for its scheduled opening tonight, February 5.

The Tet this year falls on February 8, and today is the 27th day of the 12^th month of the lunar year, meaning the country’s largest public holiday is only three days away.

Themed “Ho Chi Minh City: Peace, Prosperity and Development,” the event this year runs for eight days, from 7:00 pm on February 5 to 10:00 pm on February 12, one day longer than previous Tet holidays.

The Ho Chi Minh City Flower Street has been held annually since 2004 on Nguyen Hue Street, except for last year when it was relocated to Ham Nghi Street as the former was closed for the construction of a subway system.
