Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received Jeffrey Immelt, head of President Barack Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, in Hanoi on August 24.

At the reception, Dung said that Vietnam is pleased with positive developments in bilateral ties, which have brought practical benefits to both countries.

Vietnam wishes that the two sides will attempt to further develop their relationship in all aspects, especially in economics and trade and investment, he stressed.

The PM affirmed Vietnam ’s consistent policy of supporting investment activities by foreign investors, particularly those from the US , adding that the success of foreign investors is that of Vietnam .

He suggested that the American official and his council take practical actions to back the US early recognition of Vietnam as a market economy and the two countries’ negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement.

The council should promote the US direct investment activities in Vietnam in order to raise two-way trade to a more impressive figure in the coming time, Dung noted.

Jeffrey Immelt said that the US investment projects in Vietnam have been implemented effectively and many US investors have seen successful results in the country.

He affirmed that his council will always support proposals mentioned by Prime Minister Dung.

He also suggested the two sides continue expanding investment cooperation activities in the fields of aviation, energy, medical equipment production, science and technology.
