Pho (noodle soup), banh xeo (Vietnamese pancake) and cha ca (fried fish paste) are among Vietnamese foods to be introduced on CNNgo.com, reports VnExpress.

“Vietnamese cuisine doesn’t win any points for complexity. Many of the most popular dishes can be made just as well on the side of the road as in a top-end restaurant,” quoted CNNgo.com.

“But it’s precisely this simplicity, the subtle variations by region and the fresh ingredients that keep us pulling up a plastic stool for more,” the website added.

Listed in first position is pho. “It’s almost impossible to walk a block in Vietnam’s major cities without bumping into a crowd of hungry patrons slurping noodles at a makeshift pho stand.”

The list varies from food from the North, the Central to the South of Vietnam, including cao lau (a soup made with noodles, pork and greens), bun cha (rice noodle served with grilled pork meatballs) and bun bo Nam bo (southern style beef noodle).

Some munchies like nom hoa chuoi (banana salad), hat de nong (hot roasted chestnut) and che (sweet soup) are also on the list. Hotpot served at the lakeside of Truc Bach in Hanoi is also named on the list.

Apart from photos of these delicious foods, CNNgo also posts addresses of some restaurants and locations in Vietnam where diners can savor the above foods.
