-- Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will pay a visit to the U.S. from Monday to Wednesday next week on President Donald Trump’s invitation, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.

-- United States Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius on Tuesday visited a kindergarten in Cam Lam District in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa as part of the Pacific Partnership 2017, the annual deployment of forces from the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

-- Representatives of the Vietnam Social Insurance reported at a press conference on Tuesday that the national health insurance fund has been embezzled in different cunning ways. -- A project to build an aquatic product processing plant in Kien Luong District in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang has been found illegally encroaching more than 5.3 hectares on the sea surface.

-- Can Tho International Airport authorities in the namesake southern city have revealed they had handed a passenger over to the police for carrying a Nunchaku chainstick prior to a flight on Monday without being able to show a use permit.

-- Police in the northern province of Hung Yen have confirmed with Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper they had arrested two suspects for killing a young man before removing his genitals on Monday.

-- State-run oil and gas giant PetroVietnam stands high chances of not being able to recoup VND5 trillion (US$218.5 million) it had pumped into a shipbuilding company in Dung Quat Economic Zone, located in the central province of Quang Ngai, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. -- Vietnam Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh and Bangladeshi Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam on Tuesday signed an extension of a memorandum of understanding regarding Vietnam’s supply of approximately one metric ton of rice to Bangladesh each year from now until 2022.

-- All contracts with online bidding in Vietnam had a total value of only VND3.02 trillion ($132 million) in 2016, according to statistics released at a seminar jointly held on Tuesday by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the World Bank.

Education -- The Asia Pacific Youth Exchange, a program to enable young people in 10 Asian Pacific countries to understand their roles towards achieving sustainable development goals and join cultural exchanges, is calling for applications by June 1. This year’s event will take place in Bangkok, Thailand in July.
