Located at the heart of Ha Noi Old Quarter, Ta Hien street, dubbed the ‘international intersection’, has been a hugely popular attraction for foreign backpackers, who come there to relish in the unique atmosphere, beer, street food and spectacular night views of the old quarter.

The 266-m-long street, with one end leading to Dinh Liet street and the other to Hang Buom street, was called Géraud or Quang Lac street in the early 1900s as it boasted popular Quang Lac theater.

The quarter is now home to a host of small, crowded food shops and street food stalls which offer delectable, cheap food.

Though quite narrow, the street is usually packed with foreigners, especially in the evening, who sit on stools put on the pavement, sipping ‘cool beer’ for some VND5,000 (US$0.2) a glass.

Many foreign tourists consider the street the first place to visit and the last place to leave during their stay in Hanoi. Long-time vacationers and expats have grown addicted not only to the food, beer but also the cozy atmosphere as well as the stunning night views that the old quarter offers.
