Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said the Government has agreed to invest in the building of a social network on the Internet for young people.

The PM made the statement at a meeting with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Hanoi on Sunday, March 24, to discuss a number of youth issues.

Currently more than 30 percent of the country’s population of 89 million are using the Internet and most of these users are young people, who usually like to engage themselves in social networks, the government’s leader said.

Many developed countries attach importance to launching social networks for their young people. Therefore, the building of an online social network for Vietnamese youth is necessary, Dung said.

He assigned the union to coordinate with the Ministry of Information and Communication in setting up a project for the establishment of a social network.

At the meeting, the PM called on young people to continue bringing into play their pioneering role in building and developing the country.

He asked the union to pay more attention to further educating young people in patriotism and the love for the nation and the love for the government.

The union should create favorable conditions for the youth to gain more opportunities to study, conduct scientific research, and develop their talent.
