Adjectives with '-ed' or '-ing' endings

Dr. Grammar says:
“What’s wrong with this sentence? I am interesting in football.”
The lesson should be completed as follows:

EXPLANATION
| Ted has been doing the same job for a very long time. Every day he does exactly the same thing again and again. He doesn't enjoy it anymore and would like to do something different. |
| Ted's job is boring. Ted is bored. The person is bored. Somebody is bored if something is boring. Fred is bored because his job is boring. |
Ted is bored (with his job). The job is boring. The thing is boring. If something is boring, it makes you bored. Fred's job is boring, so Fred is bored. |
| You can say:
My job is ….. boring. interesting. tiring. satisfying. depressing. The – ing adjective tells you about the job. |
Or you can say:
I’m bored with my job. I’m not interested in my job anymore. I’m always tired when I finish my work. I’m not satisfied with my job. My job makes me depressed. The –ed adjective tells you how somebody feels. |
Remember: Fred…. Ted …. is -ed Ned …. Jed …. The thing…… is –ing
So, I am interesting in football. X
Should be: I am interested in football. √
EXERCISE
Decide whether the adjectives should end in -ing or -ed. Remember, is it a feeling (-ed) or a thing (-ing)
1. He is very interest….. in studying English at ACET.
2. I went to the cinema and watched a really excit……. movie.
3. She doesn’t like reading books because it makes her feel bor……
4. They worked so hard that when they got home they were extremely tir…..
