Thursday, April 18, 2013, 15:46 GMT+7

The third specialized event for the Vietnamese analysis and biotechnology market,  Analytica Vietnam 2013, opened at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 7 on Wednesday.

It featured the latest advancements and technologies in analysis, biotechnology, diagnostics and laboratory technology for local manufacturers, distributors and service providers.

The three-day event, jointly organized by Messe München International (MMI), its subsidiary International Fair and Exhibition Service (IMAG), and the National Agency for Science and Technology Information of Vietnam (NASATI), was joined by 30 German firms showcasing their products and services in a joint pavilion supported by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology.

Large contingents of exhibitors from Japan and India also joined the event, as well as a large number of Germany companies, including several leading manufacturers such as Eppendorf, Julabo and Netzsch.

As with previous fairs, outside the exhibition area there is a conference area with many specialized workshops.

This year's program includes presentations in specialized areas conducted by Professor Dr. Kettrup (Munich University of Technology) and Professor Dr. Pham Hung (Hanoi University of Natural Science), among others.

This year’s program will also include lectures on topics such as food analysis, pharmaceuticals and environmental technology.

Dr. Huebschmann (Thermo Fisher Scientific) will discuss work flow when analyzing pesticides in food. Among other things, the presentation will examine the latest techniques being used to analyze pesticides and dioxins.

One of the workshop highlights is a tutorial from Professor Boos (Medical Center, University Munich/Germany) on "Current trends in the cleanup of body fluids for LC-MS/MS analysis of small molecules." The tutorial addresses laboratory managers as well as analysts in pharmaceutical and chemical laboratories.

The workshop on “Equipment qualification and system validation in regulated laboratories” by Doctor Huber (Labcompliance/Germany) will inform managers from pharmaceutical and food laboratories about the latest requirements and strategies that pertain to FDA/EU, ICH, PIC/S, USP and ISO 17025.

On April 19, there will be a workshop organized by NASATI giving participants an overview of available technologies in the laboratory-technology, analysis and biotechnology sectors for the Vietnamese market.
