A Chinese man has been fined after threatening to attack a Vietnamese flight attendant during his flight to the Southeast Asian country last week.
Liu Jun, a 48-year-old Chinese national, was required to pay VND7.5 million (US$330.6) in fines for causing disorder that compromised flight safety, according to the Northern Airports Authority.
The foreign passenger was on board Vietnam Airlines flight VN513 from Beijing to Hanoi on Februrary 1.
According to the case file, Liu switched to a business class (Class C) seat in the middle of the journey despite having an economy class ticket (Class Y).
After being asked by a stewardess to return to his correct seat, the passenger began yelling at her and threatening to attack the flight attedant.
Two other flyers in the business class cabin were also intimidated by the Chinese after attempting to intervene.
The cabin crew later made a report of the case and submitted it to the Northern Airports Authority after the aircraft landed at Noi Bai International Airport in the Vietnamese capital.
