Three major Vietnamese airlines are paying special attention to the south-central and central localities, with a number of new routes connecting them with those in the north already inaugurated or set for launches in October and November.

Low-cost carrier Vietjet announced on Friday it will be flying between Nha Trang, the capital city of the south-central province of Khanh Hoa, and the northern city of Hai Phong from November 19.

The Nha Trang – Hai Phong route, which lasts for about one hour and 45 minutes, is operated with a frequency of five return flights per week on every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, according to Vietjet.

Flights depart Nha Trang at 8:35 am, and from Hai Phong at 10:55 am.

Vietjet will also inaugurate the Vinh – Buon Ma Thuot service on November 20, with three return flights per week on every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Vinh is the capital city of the north-central province of Nghe An, whereas Buon Ma Thuot is its counterpart in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.

The one hour and 25 minutes flights depart Vinh at 8:35 am, and return from Buon Ma Thuot at 10:45 am, according to Vietjet.

On October 21, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines also said it will start flying between Hai Phong and Nha Trang on November 15, with four flights per week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday using Airbus A321 planes.

On October 27, low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific inaugurated a new service connecting Chu Lai in the central province of Quang Nam with Buon Ma Thuot in the Central Highlands.

The Chu Lai - Buon Ma Thuot service is operated three times per week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, according to Jetstar.

Starting October 25, Jetstar also has service between the central city of Hue and the Central Highlands city of Da Lat on every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Jetstar is flying daily between Ho Chi Minh City and Pleiku, the capital city of the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai.

The new air services to and fro the central region are hoped to help more local people travel by air and contribute to tourism development there.
