Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will visit Vietnam in the coming time, according to newly appointed Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Vnukov Konstantin Vasilievich. However, there has been no confirmed date for the visit up to now.

Vasilievich, 64, who was selected to be the ambassador to Vietnam last December, confirmed this high-level visit when he first met local media at a press conference held in Hanoi on Friday.

At the press conference, Ambassador Vasilievich answered questions from local media on many fields of cooperation and high-level visits between the two countries.

When asked by Tuoi Tre News about details of PM Medvedev’s visit to Vietnam, Ambassador Vasilievich said both sides are working on specific plans of the trip and revealed that “there will be interesting activities during the event”.

Ambassador Vasilievich added that Vietnam’s State President Truong Tan Sang will pay a visit to Moscow on May 9 to participate in activities aimed at marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.

A high-level delegation of Russian officials will attend the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU 132) to be held in Hanoi late this March.

“Russia and Vietnam will continue our bilateral military cooperation to make sure that Vietnam’s sky, earth, and territorial sea waters are strongly protected,” Ambassador Vasilievich told Tuoi Tre News when asked if Moscow will help increase Hanoi’s defensive military capacity.

“Russia has modern weapons,” he added.
