The arrests took place at two hotels in District 1 on the night of June 14, the city’s social crime investigation police said on Monday. The large-scale ring targeted foreigners at restaurants and bars and was ready to serve their sexual demands by sending prostitutes to their hotel rooms according to mutual agreements on price, time and other conditions. Through the ring, sex workers served foreigners only at a price of at least US$100 per session in rooms chosen by the ring. Sex workers received 50 percent of the payment and the rest went to the ring, brokers and others involved. At 10 pm on June 14, after following a group of suspicious foreigners who left a bar for two hotels, the police later raided two rooms and caught four prostitutes having sex with four foreigners. After examination, police determined that these foreigners are staying and working in the city. At the same time, other police forces raided four bars and restaurants at 35, 37, 49 and 51 Hai Ba Trung Street, Ben Nghe Ward and then escorted 53 people allegedly related to the sex ring.   Sex services for foreigners at these four facilities were provided by a ring led by a man named V, investigators said. V and his aides selected and recruited beautiful girls, aged 18-28 years old, and provided them to foreigners on demand. At these bars and restaurants, V arranged for his foreign guests to select sex partners among the girls and after prices were agreed upon, they would be transported by car to a hotel. After questioning everyone involved, the police initially decided to arrest nine people.  Police are expanding the investigation to track down others involved in the sex ring.
