Vietnam will likely build an e-court by 2020 to improve judicial services supplied to the people, according to what was discussed at a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday, attended by Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh.
The chief justice, who is also a member of the all-powerful Politburo, mentioned reforms in administrative-judicial procedures and transparency in the operation of the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City.
“Easy access to justice should be open to the public,” Binh said. “The aim is to develop an e-court in 2020 to effectively improve the service offered to the people.”
Binh also underscored the importance of building a “strong and transparent” council of judges who are highly trained, ethical, and devoted to serving the people.
Frequent internal inspections should be conducted to timely detect and handle any misconduct, he added.
The chief justice expressed his expectations to see rapid improvement in how the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City deals with its cases, especially major and corruption-related suits.
Emphasis must be placed on new and updated in-court proceedings, Binh said.
The senior judge demanded that firm action be taken to prevent false convictions of innocent people or failure to bring criminals to justice, so as to truly ensure justice for the people and protect human rights.
