The biting cold in northern Vietnam will continue for several days, while the cold together with fog will affect the southern region, the National Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Center reported.

Accordingly, from today the temperature in northeastern provinces is 9-12 degrees Celsius, while in high mountainous areas the temperature is lower, at less than 6 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature in northern Vietnam will be 17-20 degrees Celsius. The cold front that is spreading southwards has caused scattered rains to mid central provinces. This weather pattern has also caused rough sea and northeast winds of up to 49 kph and gusts of 30-61 kph to the Gulf of Tonkin since Friday night. The middle area of the East Sea, including the waters of Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel), and the sea area off the central and southern regions will also have rough sea and strong winds of up to 61 kph and squalls of 62-88 kph. Meanwhile, southern Vietnam is also facing a cold front, the second within a month. Therefore, the cold  together with fog in early morning will affect the region, especially in areas near rivers and lakes.    In Ho Chi Minh City, the temperatures have been ranging from 17 to 19 degrees Celsius in early morning over the past several days.
