AS Roma beats Vietnam 2-1 at int’l U-19 tournament

Host Vietnam was defeated 1-2 today by AS Roma in their first match of the international U-19 Nutifood Cup organized in Ho Chi Minh City from January 6-10.

Displaying a fantastic football with short and fast one-touch passes all over the field, Vietnamese players had better ball possession, especially in the midfield area.

However, it was the young Italian players who opened the goal in the 20th minute after an attack in the left wing. Receiving the ball from Jacopo Ferri in a long pass, striker Valerio Trani entered the Vietnam box and didn’t miss the chance to take his side to the 1-0 lead.

The Italian side performed a solid and effective defense with cute counter-attacks. They had three chances during the match and successfully converted twice to seal the win.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese players displayed an interesting playing style but were not accurate on accessing the Roma box. In addition, they also failed to find a way to pierce through the rival defensive wall.

In the other match of the four-team tournament today, Tottenham edged Japan 2-1.
