Tropical low pressure developing into storm

Meanwhile, in the next 24 hours, a tropical low pressure moving slowly in the northeastern direction at 5km per hour could develop into a storm and affect Vietnamese seas in the next 2-3 days.

At 1pm today (Monday) the center of the storm is expected to be at 14.3 degrees north latitude, 113.5 east altitude, 320km away from the Hoang Sa (Paracel) islands. It could pack strong wind power of up to level 10.

Due to the tropical front circulation, the sea areas between Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) islands has winds of up to level 10 causing rough seas.

Together with the southwestern monsoon, the front will cause the south area of the East Sea (including the Truong Sa area), and the seas between Binh Thuan and Ca Mau provinces to have strong winds of up to level 8, heavy rains and violent thunderstorms. Whirlwinds could be expected.

Due to the intensifying cold front, some localities in the north and the mountainous areas of the northwest could undergo coldness with temperatures dropping to as low as 16 degrees Celsius.
