Vuong Dinh Hue, chairman of Vietnam’s law-making National Assembly (NA), recently suggested making the most of social media platforms to promote legal awareness among local people while addressing an NA session held on Thursday last week.
Chairman Hue hailed the increasingly active contribution of social networks in the popularization of laws, particularly the Land Law.
He recounted his instances of watching TikTok live-streaming sessions dedicated to promoting knowledge of the Land Law, with each session attracting hundreds of thousands of viewers.
In such live streams, TikTokers analyzed Article 4 of the Land Law, including clarifying what is meant by overseas Vietnamese and foreign citizens of Vietnamese origin, or pointing out the new aspects of this law, the top legislator said.
He also highlighted the important role of social networks in promoting several state-produced movies, citing an example of the recent Vietnamese movie ‘Dao, Pho, and Piano,' which garnered much public attention thanks to social media.
Therefore, the NA chairman asked the minister of justice and the head of the NA Law Committee to take into account campaigns which utilize the power of social networks to enhance public awareness of the country’s laws and policies.
The legislature at the session passed nine important laws and 11 resolutions that are expected to leave a significantly positive impact on society and Vietnam’s macroeconomic policy.
The NA Standing Committee also ordered relevant agencies to beef up efforts to promptly disseminate the outcomes of NA sessions and laws approved by the legislature to the public.
