-- Ho Chi Minh City will launch firework displays at 16 venues, including 10 across the Saigon River, to mark the 49th anniversary of Reunification Day on April 30.
-- Fireworks, drone light shows, and contests are among Hanoi’s planned activities to celebrate its 70th Liberation Day anniversary on October 10 this year, the local administration announced on Tuesday afternoon.
-- Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railways No. 1 Company Limited has proposed an allocation of VND110 billion (US$4.35 million) from the municipal People’s Committee to the test operation of metro line No. 1 before its expected commercial launch in Q4 this year.
-- Seven recently-inaugurated expressways are expected to feature temporary rest stops, offering convenient travel options ahead of the Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1) holiday, as well as during the peak tourism season this summer.
-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has ordered enforcement units to crack down on reckless delivery drivers who occupy sidewalks and commit traffic violations while transporting goods.
-- Several vehicles transporting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) were stranded at Ca Pass in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam as of Tuesday afternoon after a ban was imposed on all automobiles passing through the pass to address disruption caused by a landslide inside a railway tunnel. Ca Pass is the sole legal route for LPG vehicles in the area, as they are prohibited from traversing all road tunnels in Vietnam.
-- Law experts suggested removing clean water from the list of taxable items during a conference on Tuesday afternoon to discuss amendments to the Value Added Tax Law. They argued that clean water, being essential for basic needs and falling within the realm of social security, should be exempt from taxation.

-- The Yunlin District Prosecutors Office filed a motion with the Yunlin District Court last week to detain four Vietnamese migrant workers and a Taiwanese national over the alleged kidnapping and possible murder of another Vietnamese national in Taiwan, according to the Central News Agency.
