When 68-year-old Tran Van Dung leisurely parades his iron-framed horse around the neighborhood in Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, all eyes are on him and his crafted vehicle.

Recently, a video circulated on social media platforms showing a man seated in a homemade vehicle being towed by a horse.

The iron-framed horse, equipped with two front legs for slow movement and pulling a two-wheeled cart, emits smoke from its mouth as it ambles along.

This clip garnered significant attention and comments from users across social networks.

The author and sole operator of this peculiar horse is Tran Van Dung, a 68-year-old mechanic hailing from Binh Loi Commune, Binh Chanh District.

Dung said he holds passion for mechanical tinkering, considering it both a source of joy and a hobby.

Having previously fashioned an electric three-wheeled vehicle for a disabled relative, Dung embarked on crafting his own horse after observing similar endeavors online.

After approximately a month of dedicated effort and an investment of about VND15 million (US$605), Dung completed the construction of his distinctive horse.

Powered by a gasoline engine, the contraption features an iron frame and two legs pulling a two-wheeled carriage.

Dung has taken his invention on leisurely strolls through his neighborhood, occasionally stopping for coffee and haircuts along the way.

Acknowledging the horse’s slow pace, Dung limits its excursions to the local vicinity, estimating a six-kilometer journey would require around two hours.

Despite its slow-moving gait, Dung’s creation has attracted considerable attention, prompting onlookers to capture its unconventional travels in photos and videos.

“Many people have inquired about utilizing the horse for wedding transportation services, but I declined, explaining that my horse is too slow,” Dung remarked, noting his plans for future speed upgrades.

Nguyen Truong Hai, a resident of Binh Loi Commune, expressed his surprise at Dung’s creation, stating that many locals found it intriguing and gathered to witness its unique journey.
