-- Italian President Sergio Mattarella will pay a state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Truong Tan Sang from November 5 to 8.

Society

-- Officials in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa are pooling public opinion on the design of an egg-shaped administrative hub it plans to build at a cost of VND3.08 trillion (US$137.5 million), the project management board said Sunday.

-- Four people of a family were found dead inside an electronics store in the north-central city of Thanh Hoa late Sunday, in an apparent group suicide, according to an initial police report.

-- Search is still underway for two unaccounted-for people on board the Hoang Phuc 18 ship, which capsized and went down in a river in Ho Chi Minh City’s outlying district of Can Gio on Friday, while 13 others have been rescued.

-- The central city of Da Nang and four districts in the neighboring province of Quang Nam officially put an end to analog television to shift to digital terrestrial TV on Sunday. Other localities in Vietnam are required to follow suit by December 2015 under a government policy on digitalizing television.

-- Vietnam and the other 11 member countries of the Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade pact are expected to publicize the full content of the ambitious accord they reached last month on Monday, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.

-- Singapore’s Genesis Global Capital will invest a total of $300 million in Vietnamese realty developer Phuc Khang in the next six years, according to a deal the two inked on Sunday.

-- Vietnam needs VND1.75 trillion ($78.13 million) to host the 2021 Southeast Asian Games, the biggest sporting competition of the region, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said in a proposal submitted to the government.

-- Rainforest Challenge Vietnam 2015, an international 4x4 off-road race, kicked off in the southern province of Binh Duong on Sunday, with 33 domestic and foreign teams participating in the competition.

-- Vietnamese soccer star Cong Phuong was warmly welcomed by supporters of Mito HollyHock, which he is slated to play for, as he came to watch the match between the club and Thespakusatsu Gunma at the 2015 J-League 2, Japan’s second-tier football league, on Sunday.
