-- The Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, who set up a fund for the search of Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers’ remains who died during the Vietnam War, on Tuesday explained why they hired 54-year-old self-proclaimed telepath Nguyen Thanh Thuy, who was arrested on Monday for allegedly swindling others by falsifying findings of the soldiers’ remains to pocket US$350,000.

-- One 11-year-old child and 15 other children between 3 and 11 have been admitted to Ho Chi Minh City-based Pediatrics Hospital No. 1 due to asthma over the last two months, doctors at the hospital confirmed.

-- 57 percent of internet users in Vietnam (approximately 18 million users) do online shopping, according to figures released at a Vietnam-Japan e-commerce conference on Tuesday.

-- Saigontourist Travel Service Company says they will charter flights from Vietnam Airlines to bring 118 Vietnamese tourists to travel to Japan for a six-day trip.

Sports:

-- Chelsea reached the League Cup quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over London rivals Arsenal on Tuesday, according to a Reuters report.

Politics:

-- Lawmakers gathered in a plenary session of the legislature’s ongoing sitting on Tuesday to discuss some draft laws, according to VNA. -- National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung received a visiting European Parliamentarian delegation led by its Committee for Southeast Asia and ASEAN Relations Chairman Werner Largen in Hanoi on Tuesday. At the meeting, Hung said the Vietnamese legislative body gives special priority to developing the friendship with the European Parliament (EP), according to VNA. -- President Truong Tan Sang has expressed his belief that with their scale and potential, US businesses will continue to be Vietnam’s leading partners, the president said after receiving visiting Chairman of the US-ASEAN Business Council (UABC) Evan Greenberg and representatives of several US businesses in Hanoi on Tuesday.
