A music show will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday night to raise funds for people living in flood-stricken regions in central Vietnam.
The show, organized by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Performing Arts and Cinema Center and the Ho Chi Minh City Television Station, will take place at 6:00 pm at Sen Hong Stage at 23/9 Park in District 1.
It is the fourth show of the ‘Ket Noi Yeu Thuong’ (Connecting Love) charity series. All proceeds raised from the show will be donated to flood victims in four central provinces.
At least 21 people were killed by floods in Vietnam's four central provinces earlier this month, while some 500,000 people have been displaced and over 100,000 houses submerged and damaged by the disaster, according to a government report.
Saturday’s event is open to the public and will feature performances from dozens of artists, including many household names.
The organizers said they have prepared 1,000 raincoats for audience members in case of rain.
The show will also be broadcast live from 8:30 pm to 10:00 pm on Ho Chi Minh City Television channel HTV9.
Two of the previous shows in the ‘Ket Noi Yeu Thuong’ series were held in 2013 to support flood-hit areas in central Vietnam and victims of super typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, while the third show took place in April this year to raise funds for people in drought-stricken areas of the Central Highlands and Mekong Delta regions.
