Society -- A serious traffic accident occurred between a motorbike carrying four young people and a truck in Tuy Phuoc District, Binh Dinh Province yesterday. Three of the young people - 16, 17 and 19 years old – died on the spot while another was severely injured. When it was overtaking another truck on the same lane, the motorbike hit the truck that came from the opposite direction, police said. -- More than 120 drug addicts at a detoxification center in Binh Phuoc Province’s Chon Thanh District had broken a wall of the center and escaped at 9:15 pm yesterday, local police reported. They were among 290 drug addicts, including 34 women, kept at the center. After two hours of search, police found and seized 20 of the escaped addicts. -- Police in Hanoi’s Ha Dong District yesterday stopped a suspicious Toyota Zace car for examination and caught it carrying a dead tiger packed in a sack. Two men who had been in the car run away after they got out of the vehicle. The police seized both the tiger’s body and the car for investigation. -- Police in Hanoi have asked the local prosecutor’s office to prosecute Nguyen Hung Cuong of Hoa Vinh Province and Truong Viet Minh of Ninh Thuan Province two men, both 25, for using fake credit cards to by air tickets. They have been charged with “using the Internet to appropriate assets.” -- Ho Chi Minh City’s first adult liver transplant was carried out successfully yesterday at Cho Ray Hospital after 13 hours of surgery. The liver recipient was Cung Thi Kim Dinh and the donor was her 22-year-old son Diep Huu Loc. The transplant surgery was performed by a join team of 37 doctors and nurses from Cho Ray and South Korea’s ASAN Medical Center. -- The dam of the Song Tranh 2 hydropower plant in Quang Nam province is safe for operation, said a report of the Construction Ministry to the National Assembly’s Committee for Science and Environment. Repairs of leakage on the dam’s body were successfully completed on August 24 and the dam can survive earthquakes of more than 5.5 on the Richter scale, the report said.Business -- The HCMC Department of Information and Communication has urged VTC Intercom to stop providing three video games: Raid, DotA and Age of Empires from 8 pm October 12 to its customers in the city. The department has yet to license DotA and Age of Empires while it has refused to license Raid since 2010 due to its violent contents. -- It is easy to see that this year’s celebrations of Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day, October 13, have gone into depth and spread onto the community. Celebratory activities do not include only honoring and celebratory activities but also carry current burning concerns of the country. The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) continues to be the central host of commemorative events. A much-awaited annual event is the gala eve for executives to meet, exchange and show respect to each others. And, there are a series of seminars on current burning concerns of businesspeople.  Sports-- Hoang Anh Tuan marked his glorious return from a 2-year doping ban by bagging a gold medal in the men’s 56kg snatch event at the 2012 National Weightlifting Championships. He successfully lifted 126kg, 1kg more than London Olympian Tran Le Quoc Toan. Anh Tuan failed in the clean and jerk event, lifting 151kg compared Toan’s 153kg in total. It meant Toan achieved a better overall result and claimed the event’s first place. Despite the victory, Toan’s performance was disappointing compared to his 248kg lift at the 2012 London Summer Games.
