The MoU was signed following the 4th session of the Vietnam-Netherlands Intergovernmental Commission on climate change adaptation and water management that took place the same day under the co-chair of the Vietnamese official and Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment Melanie Schultz.

After reviewing the outcomes of the strategic partnership on climate change and water management gained since the previous session, the two sides discussed cooperation in 2015, focusing on sustainable urban management and water storage in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. Also among the event’s agenda were talks about the water-planning program for the Red River Delta in order to help Vietnam increase its capacity of managing water reservoirs in the region. In addition, measures to boost cooperation in agriculture, energy, and marine-based economic activities, including logistics and shipbuilding, were also discussed.

Deputy PM Hai and Minister Melanie Schultz also signed the Minutes of the 4th session of the Vietnam-Netherlands Intergovernmental Commission on climate change adaptation and water management.

The fifth session will be conducted in Hanoi next year. During his three-day visit, the Vietnamese official is scheduled to meet Mayor of Amsterdam E.E. Van der Laan to launch the “Vietnam Days in the Netherlands” and the Vietnam-Netherlands economic cooperation forum.
