Russian tourist falls to death at Nha Trang hotel

Vietnamese authorities have notified the Russian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City of the death of a Russian national, who died after falling at a hotel in the coastal city of Nha Trang on Monday.

The Department of Foreign Affairs in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa has reported to the consulate on the death of Alexander Fiksman, 29, who fell from the 10th floor of a hotel on Tran Quang Khai Street,  Nguyen Quoc Tran, the department’s director, said on Tuesday.

The deadly incident occurred on the morning of September 15, when Fiksman slipped on a staircase and fell from the 10th to the 8th floor of his hotel, Tram said. Just before the accident, Fiksman and his friends had been enjoying themselves at a bar on the 10th floor. The Russian visitor left the bar at about 5 am Monday, and he took a wrong while going down to the 8th floor. Fiksman suffered serious injuries and died on the way to the Khanh Hoa Province General Hospital. His body is being kept at the morgue of the hospital.

The provincial authorities have set up a medical council to examine the scene of the accident and perform an autopsy in order to reach an official conclusion about the cause of death.
