Robbie Fowler, the former star striker of English Premier League club Liverpool and the English national football team, arrived in Ho Chi Minh City late Tuesday and will visit the newsroom of Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper today.

The 39-year-old retired forward is on his visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the milk brand Love’in Farm Kun owned by dairy company IDP – a strategic partner of Liverpool FC.

Around 100 Vietnamese fans of Liverpool FC waited for Fowler at Tan Son Nhat International Airport yesterday evening.

They prepared banners and palm-leaf conical hats – typical headgear of Vietnamese people – to present to the former Anfield Stadium hero.

Fowler is scheduled to visit the newsroom of Tuoi Tre, located at 60A Hoang Van Thu Street, Ward 9, Phu Nhuan District this morning.

In the afternoon, he will meet with Vietnamese media at RMIT University in District 7, and will have a brief training session to coach 15 Vietnamese teen footballers.

Robbie Fowler scored 183 goals during his eight years of playing for Liverpool, including 128 goals in the English Premier League.

He won an FA Cup, three League Cup titles, one UEFA Cup, and one UEFA Super Cup.

The former English international also scored seven goals during his 26 caps for the national team. He played at Euro 1996 and 2000, and the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
