The lack of the glamorous atmosphere and well-decorated Broadway stage turns out to be a good thing, as Michael Parks Masterson and his Vietnamese companions have really won the heart of their Vietnamese and foreign audience at the show only with just pure talent, burning passion for art and simplicity.

With a very simple stage with only a stylized photograph of the Statue of Liberty representing New York City, where Broadway originates, and almost no decoration, Michael and other Vietnamese artists made everybody sit back until the last minute with  almost no empty seat on the Thursday night show in the Conservatory of Ho Chi Minh City.

During his first-ever visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City Consulate, Michael, a Broadway artist, has brought Broadway musical atmosphere which is still not popular in Vietnam to HCMC audience.

In this program, in addition to his leading role in shaping the program, he also guided and practiced with many Vietnamese colleagues throughout a week. "It's a really hard job, but you did it more than what I expected," Michael said.

Within 7 days of training with professional and amateur dancers in HCMC, Michael has given them the spirits for fresh and robust performances.

Below is the combined video of Masterson's performance in chronic order:

Many people were very surprised with the performance of Nguyen Hoang Bao Ngoc Linh and Vo Anh Ngoc when they duet the song For Good taken from the musical Wicked, as their performances and vocals are both very attractive and mature, though both are very young.

Another artist, Vo Ha Tram, also showed her best in the song Memory, a masterpiece taken from the musical Cats by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Besides, the program also drew many famous faces to attend. Dance-sport queen Khanh Thi showed off a sexy show with All That Jazz, a song taken from the musical Chicago.

Singer Duc Tuan excelled as he sang Sunset Boulevard from the musical of the same name) and Being Alive from musical Company. Michael said that the song was initially set aside for him, but after listening Tuan during the audition, Michael decided to let Duc Tuan singing for the best result.

It’s is a very wise decision, Michael said after Tuan’s performance.

Michael himself singing two songs and received a lot of applause due to his unique vocals.

The show could not be completed without the actors and actresses from Hong Van theater with their natural and professional approaches to the excerpts from famous musicals as Guys and Dolls, Rent, and Lion King.

For his excellent in acting, singing and dancing, for more than two decades, Michael Parks Masterson have been invited to perform in more than 30 countries around the world.
