Politics -- France's President François Hollande will pay an official visit to Vietnam on September 6 and 7. During his visit, President Hollande will meet with Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. According to French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean-Noël Poirier, the focus of the French president’s visit will be solutions for environmental protection and climate change.Society -- Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh has assigned the Ministry of Public Security to investigate a case in which certificates were illegally granted to 800 local aquatic food products. -- Environmental pollution has become alarming in many localities in the country, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha and local authorities said at a recent nationwide online meeting. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also affirmed at the event that environmental pollution has caused social unrest. -- Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Phu Distric Police have recently cracked down on a ring that forced young girls from neighboring regions to work as prostitutes. Tran Thanh Mai, 43, residing in the southern city of Vung Tau, and 11 other related suspects are under investigation. -- Six out of nine samples of seafood from the north-central province of Ha Tinh were found containing toxic and heavy metal residues, according to a recent report by the National Food Safety and Hygiene Testing Institute. -- Colonel Tran Thanh Son, chief of the military command in the south-central province of Binh Dinh, on Wednesday confirmed that there is a directive on banning soldiers from playing Pokémon GO as well as strengthening privacy and information security in the province’s armed forces.Education -- A number of the world’s leading mathematics professors will teach in a program of the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics in Hanoi this year. The program featuring lectures on applied mathematics is expected to be run annually.
