Vietnamese man falls prey to gift scam from ‘foreign friend’

In order to take advantage of people’s greed and gullibility, scammers often create a fictional persona on social media and contact victims with a story about their wish to travel to Vietnam. They also mention sending the victim money or valuable gifts.
