An ongoing installation exhibit in Hanoi is showcasing horses made from traditional Vietnamese paper, and conveying images highlighting the ties between Vietnam and France
As the Year of the Horse is only some days away, Phuc Am votive paper making village in Hanoi is working full steam to cater to bulk orders on their dexterously crafted paper horses.
The exhibit “Ghep” (Blending), which showcases torn paper collage paintings along with mosaic pottery works by artists Hoang Thi Phuong Lien and Le Thiet Cuong, is running in Hanoi until Dec 24 before being taken to HCMC in Feb 2014.
The exhibit, “The sunshine patch at Cham towers”, the first of its kind in Hanoi, which is running until Dec 6, showcases Champa culture’s hallmark paper carving works.
An exhibit titled “Paper then and now”, which is running in northern Thai Nguyen province from now until Oct 20, features Vietnamese writing and history and the paper making process spanning centuries.
“Truc chi”, a unique kind of paper made from bamboos, is the result of the 10-year painstaking, trial and error work by local artist Phan Hai Bang.
