Installation celebrating Vietnam-France ties running in Hanoi

Installation celebrating Vietnam-France ties running in Hanoi

Wednesday, October 01, 2014, 14:03 GMT+7

An ongoing installation exhibit in Hanoi is showcasing horses made from traditional Vietnamese paper, and conveying images highlighting the ties between Vietnam and France.

The exhibit, called “Truyen Tai Thong Tin Bang Suc Ngua” (Conveying Information via Horse Power), kicked off at L’Espace (24 Trang Tien Street, Hoan Kiem District) on Tuesday, and will wrap up on October 26.

The exhibition by local artist Trieu Tuan Long features seven horses which were dexterously crafted from “boi” paper (traditional Vietnamese pasteboard).

The horses are covered with haphazardly installed photos, which boast the two countries’ architectural and cultural icons, including Hanoi’s Long Bien Bridge and Paris’ Eiffel Tower, as well as historic French-style edifices in the Vietnamese capital.

The photos also capture the lifestyle of French expats in Hanoi, French and Vietnamese children, and exchange activities between the two countries.
