Le Phuong Khanh Nhu, a 20-year-old university student, is emerging as a young talent in bilingual hosting and public speaking in Ho Chi Minh City.
Known for her poise and command of both Vietnamese and English, Nhu has garnered numerous accolades, including top honors in prestigious student competitions.
Nhu, currently a third-year tourism student at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), credits her confidence and fluency in English to years of self-discipline, perseverance, and a strategic application of the Linearthinking method.
The method, developed by DOL IELTS Dinh Luc, is centered on learning and teaching English in a critical, logical, and essential manner.
It is based on logical and mathematical thinking and examines the impact of the mother tongue (Vietnamese) on English study.
Its techniques include simplifying, reading connection, reading structure, building a sentence, speaking a sentence, thinking in English, linear paraphrasing, specifying, categorizing, linear frameworks, linear tools, mental models, and association, among others.
A voice that inspires
Nhu’s journey into public speaking began as an ambitious freshman when she entered a bilingual emceeing competition at UEH.
To her surprise, the first-time contender not only navigated the challenges of stage presence and competition pressure but emerged as the champion.
“It was the first time I tested myself in such a professional setting,” Nhu said.
“I poured my heart into every detail – even investing a large sum of money, which was significant for a student like me.
“I left that stage with gratitude, knowing my efforts had paid off.”
This victory marked a turning point.
Initially unsure about pursuing hosting as a career, the experience pushed her to refine her skills and embrace bilingual emceeing work.
She has since won another bilingual emceeing talent competition of a university this year, solidifying her reputation as a skilled young orator.

From self-practice to proficiency
Nhu’s ability to shine in bilingual hosting stems from a deep love for languages and years of focused practice.
In the past, she loved ‘speaking,’ especially speaking in front of others, but she did not know about bilingual hosting at the time.
“I would often read English texts aloud, record myself on video, and then watch it back to review and improve. I also practiced Vietnamese self-monologues on topics I cared about, which helped me build quick-thinking and editing skills,” she said.
Her curiosity led her to watch Miss Universe interviews, drawing inspiration from how international pageant winners conveyed ideas with grace and conviction.
Beyond self-study, Nhu discovered Linearthinking as a powerful learning method to enhance her English proficiency.
By structuring her thoughts clearly and logically, she achieved an impressive IELTS score of 7.0 and remains on track to reach 8.0 soon.
Balancing excellence and ambition
Between her studies, hosting events, and competition schedules, Nhu maintains a disciplined routine to ensure balance. Mornings are often reserved for hosting events, while afternoons focus on academics and self-improvement.
“I set clear priorities and dedicate time every day to advancing my English. On weekends, I work toward my goal of improving my IELTS score,” she said.
Nhu’s ambition stretches far beyond the stage. In the next five years, she aspires to become a renowned bilingual host, translator, and mentor for aspiring emcees.
She also prioritizes community service, viewing it as a chance to give back while refining her skills and expanding her perspectives.
“Youth is about movement – near or far, slow or fast. The key is to keep going,” she said.

Inspiration and resilience
Nhu draws motivation from Vietnamese social media personality Khanh Vy, who inspires her with a balanced approach to success and life.
She emphasizes that role models play an essential role in fueling ambition.
Her journey has not been without setbacks. She once fell short of her expectations in an emceeing competition, finishing only in the top 20. Rather than dwelling on the disappointment, Nhu saw it as a lesson in preparation and humility.
“I learned the importance of meticulous preparation, time management, and staying grounded. Every challenge teaches me something valuable,” she reflected.
A modern Vietnamese woman
Nhu’s vision for modern women centers on empowerment, self-development, and community contribution.
“A modern woman pursues her dreams while elevating her value and balancing life’s relationships. By overcoming limitations, she inspires others and contributes to a progressive, compassionate society,” she said.
As she continues to refine her skills, she believes the human touch remains irreplaceable, even in the AI era.
“For emcees, speaking isn’t just about scripts. It’s about connecting heart to heart, something technology can never fully replicate,” she said.
With an impressive portfolio of achievements, relentless determination, and a methodical approach to learning, Nhu stands as a role model for Vietnam’s youth, proving that with passion and persistence, dreams are within reach.
