The Denmark in Your Eyes painting competition, with the theme Green Initiatives, received more than 24,600 paintings and artworks from over 260 schools and clubs across Vietnam.
The Vietnam - Denmark Friendship Association and the Embassy of Denmark, the two co-hosts of the competition, announced 74 individual winners and five group prizewinners at an awards ceremony in Hanoi on Wednesday.
The event brought together leaders and representatives of local agencies and organizations that supported the competition as well as a number of the competition winners together with their parents and teachers.
A key area of the long-standing and successful cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark is green growth and the transition to a more sustainable society.
The Denmark in Your Eyes painting competition is a unique way to go beyond the existing government-to-government cooperation under the bilateral green strategic partnership, engaging children and young people in Vietnam's green transition.
The Denmark in Your Eyes – Green Initiatives painting competition offered Vietnamese students a platform to raise awareness about climate and environmental issues, giving voice to their concerns and showcasing their inspiring initiatives.
This contest highlighted the deep passion and unwavering commitment of young people in Vietnam to creating a sustainable and green future for all, Ambassador of Denmark to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz said at the awards ceremony.
The panel of judges included acclaimed painters from the Ministry of Education and Training, Kim Dong Publishing House, and Thieu Nien and Nhi Dong newspaper.

The grand prize went to Nguyen Hoang Thinh, a sixth grade student from Hanoi Victoria School.
At the awards ceremony, Thinh expressed the idea behind his winning painting: ‘Through my painting Green World – Green Future created from fabric scraps, I hope to inspire my friends and those around me to join hands in protecting our planet and environment. By repurposing discarded materials to create meaningful artworks, I am celebrating the beauty of our world and our lives while promoting sustainability."
The grand prize winner was awarded a tablet and a set of LEGO toys and children’s books.
An additional 73 individual awards, which include two first prizes, four second prizes, eight third prizes, 50 fourth prizes, and nine prospect prizes were given to students of elementary and lower secondary schools from various provinces and cities in Vietnam.
The first, second, third, fourth, and prospect prize winners will be presented with LEGO toys, books, and color sets.
The group prizes went to the Can Tho Unions of Friendship Organizations, Hue Unions of Friendship Organizations, Dong Thap Unions of Friendship Organizations, Nguyen Sieu Secondary and High School, and Education and Technology Primary School.
The first Denmark in Your Eyes competition took place in 2016 during the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark.
The competition has since then been organized every one or two years with a new theme, but always with a strong focus on environmental issues.
The competition has always garnered substantial support from elementary and lower secondary school students in Vietnam.
