Martyr Pham Hong Thai, born in Nghe An Province in 1895, was a Vietnamese patriot and sacrificed his life in Guangzhou on June 19, 1924.
Engaging in the Tan Viet Youth Union founded by Ho Tung Mau and Le Hong Phong in 1924, Pham Hong Thai was assigned to assassinate then French Governor-General Martial Henri Merlin when he visited Guangzhou.
After the unsuccessful assassination, the Vietnamese patriot killed himself by jumping into the Pearl River on June 19, 1924.
The incident caused a stir in China, contributing to encouraging the movements of national liberation in Asia.
In front of the grave area stands a large stone with writings of Chinese engraved on it. The writings honor Pham Hong Thai’s heroism.

After leaving the Huang Hua Gang Memorial Park, the Vietnamese leader and his entourage dropped by the relic site of the headquarters of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth League at No. 13 (now No. 248 – 250) on Wen Ming Street in Guangzhou City.
This place was associated with the revolutionary career of late President Ho Chi Minh during the 1924 - 1927 period.
Despite undergoing 100 years, the house and exhibits inside have been stored carefully.
The house acted as the headquarters of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth League, the predecessor of the Communist Party of Vietnam, founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc.
At the facility, Nguyen Ai Quoc opened three political training courses for 75 Vietnamese revolutionary officials.
His lectures were gathered and published in a book named ‘Duong Kach Menh’ (The Revolutionary Road). The book then became one of the first theoretical documents of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The relic site of the headquarters of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth League features a classroom, late-President Ho Chi Minh’s room, the rooms of learners, a kitchen, and an exhibition area.

“A high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese state visited the relic site of the headquarters of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth League in a moving mood, where beloved President Ho Chi Minh spent his years of revolutionary activities and trained Vietnam's first generations of loyal communists, and which witnessed the pure international communist sentiment, traditional friendship, solidarity, and close bonds as both comrades and brothers between the two Parties, two countries, and two peoples,” he wrote.
“I sincerely thank the Chinese Party and state, and the Party Committee and administration of Guangdong Province for paying attention to preserving the relic site. The Vietnam-China friendship will last forever.”
