-- The France – Vietnam Friendship Association and other Vietnamese communities in France have issued a joint statement supporting July’s ruling from the arbitration tribunal in The Hague which rejected China’s claims to economic rights across large swathes of the East Vietnam Sea.

-- Vietnam Police have used DNA testing to identify convict Nguyen Tuan Hung, 27, as the sperm donor for Nguyen Thi Hue, a female prisoner who escaped the death penalty in February by impregnating herself with sperm provided by a male inmate.
-- Nguyen Huu Vinh, aka Anh Ba Sam, a Vietnamese blogger who was sentenced to five years behind bars in March for publishing multiple anti-government blog posts, will serve his full sentence after his appeal was rejected on Thursday by the Hanoi Higher People’s Court.
-- Residents in Ho Chi Minh City will be able to track the administrative progress of their real estate papers online beginning in October through a management system that has just been jointly launched by the municipal Department of Information and Communications and Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

-- Vietnam Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga has vowed to tackle issues with the country’s controversial Project 2020, which aims to improve English proficiency among the Vietnamese population, in an interview with Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

-- Vietnam will face Iran in quarter finals of AFC Championship U16 2016 in India. The team defeated Kyrgyzstan 3-1 on Thursday in the final round of the group stage to secure their second place finish in the group stage.
