Authorities in northern Vietnam have asked their Chinese counterparts to help extinguish a serious fire that lasted for over a day at a local factory.
The blaze was first discovered at around 2: 00 am on Wednesday at a workshop of Texhong Ngan Long Science Technology Company, a subsidiary of Hong Kong’s Texhong Textile Group, which is located in the Hai Yen Industrial Park in Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh Province.
Vietnamese firefighters were dispatched to the site and were only able to prevent the flames from spreading to other areas.
Leaders of the People’s Committees in Mong Cai City also arrived at the location to direct the firefighting efforts.
The inferno was still not put out as of around 6:00 pm the same day, about 16 hours later.
The factory, covering an area of 8,500 square meters, and nearly 5,000 metric tons of cotton yarn have been destroyed so far.

As the situation was serious and highly dangerous, authorities in Quang Ninh had to ask for assistance from firefighting units in China’s Dongxing and Fangchenggang Cities.
Answering the request, the two Chinese cities mobilized 14 modern fire trucks along with two remote control firefighting robots to the scene.
According to Vu Van Kinh, chairman of the People’s Committee in Mong Cai City, the administration had previously sought help from fire units in Cam Pha and Ha Long Cities in Quang Ninh.
As of 3:00 am on Thursday, the fire was completely extinguished, the province’s news outlet reported.
About 800 people took part in the firefighting effort that lasted for nearly 25 hours.
There have been no casualties reported, and competent agencies are working out the extent of the damage, as well as investigating the cause of the fire.
